Our Story
Emily's Kitchen is a family business. I'm Trish Winterbottom, my daughter is Emily and my husband is Peter Winterbottom, the former England and British Lion rugby player, who is my chief taster and delivery driver! My great friend, Vanessa, comes and helps out in the kitchen when it all gets a bit crazy and she brings a peaceful serenity to my life.
I have always been passionate about food, cooking food and feeding my friends. My previous business was a victim of COVID and I was persuaded by friends and family to start cooking my favourite Indian/Asian cuisine. Keith Floyd was a great chum of ours and I gained my inspiration (and a lot of knowledge) from him. Floydy was an incredible and very knowledgeable chef who cooked with such enthusiasm, and a glass or two!!
So, I cooked a few of my favourite Indian dishes and one Saturday morning I started selling them at a local market. To my surprise I sold out and discovered that people really loved my food. My next move was to go to India where I had a one-on-one cooking lesson with Ved Pretash, the Masterchef at the Imperial Hotel in New Delhi. He taught me secrets about curries that only one of the world’s top Indian chefs would know. The following year I went to Kerala to learn about the beautiful flavours of South Indian cooking.
